Introduction

Sophie has been working on short films, feature films, music videos, documentaries, corporate, live event coverages and TV shows since 2009.

She is now based in Manchester/Cheshire.

Sophie has a BSc in Film Production, from Staffordshire University and a Cinematography degree from France.

At BrightTALK, as Video Producer, Sophie was typically on set twice a week and was handling on average 7 projects at one time. She dealt with clients like: Schroders, HSBC, Aberdeen, Carmignac, Kaspersky and LCP. She did live panel discussion at the London Stock exchange, Event highlights with Vox pops, recruitment videos, company updates…

As Deutsche Bank’s Video Producer. Her job was to put forward ideas and logistics to achieve what the client had in mind for their corporate video, meet deadlines and keep within budgets. She had between 20 and 40 projects ongoing at one time. She organised green screen shoots and high end panel discussions. She dealt with quotes, clients and invoicing. She ran the multicam shoots, on set, as producer/director for VIPs in the bank.

As Producer / Director at Property TV, Sky Channel 198, She handled multiple projects, turning over at least one programme a week. She managed a team of editors, graphic designers, researchers and camera operators. The styles of programmes ranged from documentaries, to corporate videos, to event coverage.

In 2012, she created an award winning TV channel, Staffs TV, that was rated 7th best broadcaster in the UK after only 8 months of existence. Staffs TV won the Tim Marshall Award for Special recognition. For creating this, and having made it so successful in less than a year she received the Greatest Contribution to the Community award at her graduation ceremony.

Staffs TV also received 2nd place for best live, with it’s flagship show What’sNext (22 live episodes) at the National Student Television Awards, beating 40 other stations. This live weekly TV show, was produced and directed by Sophie Piedallu.

Sophie trained most of Staffs TV’s 50 crew members from scratch, teaching them all the roles in the studio.She was in charge of planning the live TV shows, including creating: schedules, running orders, shot lists, storyboards and handbooks. Sophie was involved with each project from pre production to post production.

Overall, Sophie was responsible for over 50 programmes, including NaSTAvision, a 3 hour national live music TV show that included live links to other TV stations. NaSTAvision had a crew of over 30 members split between the main Studio and an OB location. Sophie was the director on this show and had to rearrange the running order live depending on what was happening.

Sophie has worked for many TV Dramas, including Eastenders, Holby City, Poldark, Agatha Raisin, the 4 O’Clock club…

Sophie received her first awards, The People’s Choice Award and The Grand Prize of The Jury, at the festival ‘illumines’ in 2009 for a 3D short.

She has a wide range of experience with cameras, including: Blackmagic, RED, Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic and 16mm cameras. Sophie worked in a camera rental house, Le Fresnoy, enabling her to become very familiar with a wide range of equipment.

In 2013, The Hub, a short film also shot in 3D, was awarded 2nd place by industry professionals at Staffordshire University’s GradEx. The film was shot using a custom beam-splitter rig designed and built by Sophie. The short was selected to appear at a Francisco 3D conference.
